Friday's Letter

Dear Beloved,
There are so many days when it's all I can do to drag myself up the stairs at the end of the long day. There are so many times when I feel spread so thin, I have nothing left to give.  There are so many times when I feel like I'm nearing the end of my rope, searching for a knot to hold onto.
And then, you are there.  At the top of the stairs, at the end of my rope: you are there - loving me, encouraging me, feeding me with Hope for tomorrow.  You love me with patience and you love me with selflessness and you love me when no words come and you love me when I am unlovely and you love me and you love me...

You love me when I allow the urgent to supersede the important; and you remind me of the important when I lose sight. You are my safe place.  I love this forever-walk with my hand in yours - we can go anywhere.

19 months is not nearly long enough. I love you.

All is Grace.

Thursday's Letter

To my True Love,
Last night, you sang a rockin' version of this song while we got ready for bed, then you serenaded me with this song while we got ready this morning.  KC and Jojo ain't got nothin' on you! 15 points for performing the instrumental intro, 343 points for personalizing it, 19,834 points for making me feel loved.  You never cease to make me smile.

There's no one I'd rather be doing life with than you.  What an incredible blessing you are to me!  I love this life with you.  And I'm beyond proud of you... you're going to be an amazing doctor.

PS - Thank you for putting up with my adventures in the kitchen... you are such a good sport, and can tolerate Quinoa like a champ!

on paying it forward...

Dear Kind Man in Front of Me at Starbucks,
You can imagine how surprised I was to step up to the counter this morning, only to find that my coffee had already been paid for.  Thank you.  You made my day, and made up for the fact that they were playing Jojo's "Too Little, Too Late" in a Starbucks.... and that it is now stuck in my head.

My coffee tasted extra good today. I hope your Monday was wonderful!

I'm off to go make some homemade pizza for dinner and figure out how to make a *fixed* car magically appear in my driveway!

Love Letter {6-6}

Dear Beloved,
Thank you for staying up late with me just talking. Even though you had to wake up über early the next morning. The fact that you make it a priority to listen to and engage my heart makes me feel incredibly loved.  Thank you for holding me and letting me cry even when you don’t always understand why the tears keep coming.

Thank you for never ceasing to creatively pursue me… whether it’s emptying the dishwasher, dancing in the kitchen, or planning surprise weekend get-aways, you have never stopped chasing my heart.

Thank you for working so hard for us… in diligently studying during the school year and in the early-early-morning get-ups during the summer.  Your work ethic amazes me.

Thank you for praying with and for me.

Thank you for being goofy with me. I have so much fun with you.
I love you to infinity and beyond.

xoxo
Your Mrs.

PS – This weekend, as I stood beside one of my closest friends as she said, “I do,” I happened to look out into the audience from where I stood with the rest of the bridesmaids and, at the same time, you were looking up at me.  You gave me a smile and a wink that gave me the very same goosebumps and butterflies that I had as I walked down the aisle towards you on our wedding day – almost a year ago.  (!) You just melt me.  I love you more everyday.

Summer Nights

Dear 65⁰ Weather,
You make me wanna bust out the flippy flops and summer dresses... just sayin'.  But freals, I just LOVE these summery spring nights.  This last week has been a doozy at work, so the nice weather has been quite welcome.  In fact, the Mr. and I even got out for a few evening runs and some great tennis.  Oh boy, do I love that man! We even happened upon a little league baseball game.  Summer, are you on your way?
Now bring on the ice cream and tan lines!

Love Letters

Dear Beloved,
Right before we fall asleep each night, we always talk about where we'll meet up in our dreams. I wish we really could do that. Our Arctic adventure sounded fun last night. Also, thank you for your love letters emails that you send me every day. They always come at the right time - and never cease to make my day. :)  I'm looking forward to the weekend with you!  ♥

And PS - I'm so proud of you for acing your test yesterday.  I am truly in awe of you.

Our Top 10 Moments of 2010

Dear 2011,

We are very excited to see what you have in store for us.  We anticipate that this year we will become an uncle and aunt (courtesy of E&C), a second year optometry student and admissions counselor, and hopefully a better husband and wife.

We will celebrate our first anniversary, mourn the moving-away of our brother-, sister-in-law, and niece, and ask each others’ forgiveness a lot.  We look forward to opening our home for more dinner parties and “HIMYM” marathons. We have some pretty high expectations of you because, well, you see, 2010 was really, really good to us.  It set the bar really high. Just so you know what you have to live up to, here is a “Top 10” sampling of the great hand that 2010 dealt us:

1. Cole pulled off the most epic proposal ever. Hollywood’s got nothin’ on him.

2. He was also able to spend some time in Mexico helping people see better.

3. I graduated from college.

4. Um, well, I kind of married my bestie. Highlight of my life.

5. Ten days in Maui?  Yes, please.

6. We moved into our new home. We LOVE it here!

7. I got my first “big kid” job. Insurance and vacation, holla!

8. Cole aced his first semester of grad school. What a stud!

9. We got to spend nearly 2 weeks at home with family over the holidays.

10. God has proven time and again how good and gracious He is. He is epically faithful and eternally patient.
He still loves us even though we mess up. A lot.

So, 2011, there you have it.  The bar is set pretty high.  I sincerely hope you can rise to the occasion; and I have high hopes that you will.

Simply Incredible

Dear Husband,

Congratulations on successfully finishing your first semester of grad school... and finishing with flying colors! You amaze me. You are so smart, so disciplined, so brave.  I am so proud of you...  SO proud... and thank you for spending the first two days of your break cleaning the bathroom, doing all the grocery shopping, making the bed, doing all the laundry, and blessing my socks off when I get home from work.  You blow me away with the creative ways that you love me.

I loved our lunch date yesterday, our dance party last night, and our pasta party tonight.  I love spending time with you. I love being silly with you. You're my favorite person ever.

I am excited for our first "Christmas" tomorrow morning (albeit early) and for all of the Christmases to come.

I love you, CB. You're my hero.

Just Us

We will also remind you that this is just a BLOG…just the highlights. We don’t sit around happily smiling for pictures all day long. Our life is far from perfect: we are imperfect people serving a perfect God. We do strive to glorify God, but we fail miserably and find comfort in knowing that our debts have been paid and we have been set free.
